Director Robyn Cooper and Hatstand Productions have released short film drama ‘Self Raising’ for public viewing online following a successful run on the short film festival circuit. After playing at the Gurgaon International Film and Literature Festival in India and being selected for the Grand Rapids Feminist Film Festival in Michigan, USA, Self Raising was released to online audiences worldwide to glowing responses from users on Vimeo and the social media spectrum.
The film tackles mental health and depression as the main character, Hope (Lily Lowe-Myers) struggles to come to terms with the death of a patient. Dealing with such weighty issues hasis always a risk, but the ultimate message of hope has played well with online users. It has also led to a collaboration between Hatstand Productions and the NHS on a new short film again tackling mental health issues, currently in post production. Stay tuned for more info on the next project, but in the meantime, take a peek at Self Raising below.
